Mahashivratri – the Grand Night of Shiva is a major Hindu festival, celebrated in February/March. It symbolises the possibility of humanity overcoming sorrow and ignorance. Our topic this evening acknowledges the present state of darkness, uncertainty and untruth in our world while looking towards the dawn of openness, harmony, honesty and most of all light - in all its forms and meanings.
 
Maureen Goodman is the Programme Director for the Brahma Kumaris (UK) and oversees the University’s activities in such areas as education, youth, women’s issues, interfaith dialogue and the environment. Sister Maureen is the University’s representative at the United Nations, Vienna and a member of the Executive Circle of the Spirit of Humanity Forum, a platform for leaders to discover new ways to move forward, based on deep human values. She travels widely giving lectures on themes related to spiritual development.
