Some Native American Indian tribes give a special position of peace holder to one member of their community. No matter what form of chaos or tribulation was facing the tribe, that person’s job was to remain completely undisturbed. Being like the calm eye of a storm, such a person would influence the whole community. The world needs many such peace holders.
Marcia Osbourne has been studying Raja Yoga meditation for more than 30 years and is currently based at the Brahma Kumaris Lighthouse Retreat Centre in Worthing. Until recently, Marcia worked for 13 years as a teaching assistant in a Pupil Referral Unit for teenagers aged from 11 to 16 years. An extremely demanding and high risk atmosphere which required her to accommodate a variety of behaviours/syndromes. Marcia runs weekly meditation sessions for the Lighthouse Centre and is also involved in the activities of the Croydon BK Centre.
Carolyn Vetter, who is based in Derby, has been a student of the Brahma Kumaris for over 20 years and now focuses on personal development for herself and others. A former accountant, now retired, Carolyn is a mother and grandmother. She is also part of the events team for the Leicester BK Centre. In her personal, family life and business situations, Carolyn has often been called upon to stay calm in challenging times.
